- It is a “Citizen’s Voice” platform first, and then also a “Planner’s Solution” platform.
- It “aims” to bring the ignored 86% low-income non-car driving population of Delhi to an “equal” public platform.
- Spreads awareness on how planning/ design affects everyone’s daily lives e.g. women’s safety.
- Gives people a chance to “imagine” a different city.
- Does “advocacy with solutions”, not just with talk.
- Demonstrates how small policy changes and design ideas can make a huge difference.
- Teaches us that caring about the planning & improvement of one’s city is important.
- by flyovers and highways prioritized for private cars….
- by increasing air pollution causing severe health hazards…
- by natural water systems overflowing with sewage….
- by open spaces that are either fenced off or ticketed or out of reach of our daily lives…..
- or by a complicated Governance system which seems beyond our understanding….
- The rich history of the city stands ignored by us…. being out of sight, it’s out of our minds.
- Decisions about our lives i.e. the built environment we live in - are being made behind closed doors….
Behtardilli.org is a platform for us, the citizens, to learn, speak up, report our thoughts, issues and ideas about the city we want Delhi to become - so that we can have meaningful feedback and interaction with the decision makers of our city, to our benefit.
It is a platform to help us make positive change happen.
